NL-MA Charter Netherlands Merchant Alliance - Columbus Server Introduction IGG has provide us with basic shell of an alliance but it is up to the players to work together and make it of any use. Despite the many bugs and unreleased/unannounced features of the merchant alliances, there is a chance to make something good of them. If organization is left until the very end then it is certain there will be fighting and disappointment amongst us instead. Purpose The purpose of the NL-MA is forming a community to increase our enjoyment of Voyage Century using the new merchant alliance system. Scope The NL-MA is comprised of players, fleets, and guilds who are in the Nederland's Merchant Alliance on the Columbus server of Voyage Century, but it is also separate entity. We are a private group that takes the alliances further; participation is 100% voluntary. We have no affiliation with IGG. Membership Any player, fleet, or guild on the Columbus server and is in the Dutch Merchant Alliance is welcome to join the NL-MA. As guilds cannot switch alliances yet, any guild who pledges to switch upon the activation of this feature can also join. No one will be turned down initially, everyone will be given a chance. Upon organization, rules the NL-MA may set can revoke membership. Structure The NL-MA is a forum-based alliance. NL-MA members will be divided into 3 groups: NL-MA Members, NL-MA Officers, and NL-MA Guild Representatives. The forum has 4 sections: Public, Members, Officers, and a Voting area. All players in our merchant alliance will be allowed access into the main forum. Almost all the forum activity will be in this area. The heart of the alliance is its guilds; each guild will be allowed to name trusted members to be Officers, who will have access to their own forum area to discuss sensitive topics. Each guild in the NL-MA will designate 1 member to be their Guild Representative. Only these players will be allowed to vote. Guild Representatives do not necessarily have to be leaders; it is not up to the alliance to tell you how to run your guild. Voting Voting is always complicated in voluntary organizations because there is no way to enforce compliance. Votes requiring a simple majority can quickly split an alliance into two factions. Therefore there are some issues that are so important they demand that every guild must vote in favor in order for it to pass. An example would be this charter. If we don't start out on the right foot , we are doomed for failure. Not everything has to be 100% in favor though, resolutions which have restrictions, time limits, or are temporary often leave room for compromise. Since I suggest such voting, I promise VoC will pass off Amsterdam peacefully if ever such measure did come to vote. PvP Any PvP on behalf of the NL-MA can never be required. There exists some in the sieging of Amsterdam, and perhaps eventually with the "Trade Wars". (Ledhed thinks the trade wars will be peaceful affairs.) It should certainly be encouraged though for what is necessary, and I would like it if we defended each other when attacked by mutual hostiles.
The NL-MA is a brand new alliance, not affiliated with BBS or Commonwealth (TGE). Participation in this alliance does not have anything to do with their sieges, wars, and PvP.
